This narrative that the Leafs are in cap hell because of their big five contracts has no basis in fact and is media fueled.

Tampa Bay, Vegas, Boston, Edmonton are all contenders in far worse shape than Toronto cap wise. They currently sit 16th according to Cap Friendly in terms of cap.

you’re probably the only sensible person i’ve came into contact while discussing toronto on this app, are you a fan? i’m not sure but regardless i appreciate the intellectual insight, you’re wasting your time arguing with mokumbi, he’s way too big of a st. louis diehard to ever see anything outside of his painted st. louis sunglasses. he thinks parayko is still the same as he was at 26.

Nope. I asked you, as well. Post 41. See, that's what facts are.

So can you answer one painfully simple question or not?

You may have asked me, but I never made the claim in the first place that I was some kind of expert on St. Louis's defense. So you asking me to back up this expertise I never claimed to have in the first place, again is simply nonsensical gibberish because it does not address the point I *was* making.

Now you can keep running around this tree all you want, I'm not going to rise to the bait. If this means you get to have the last insult, so be it. Have at it dude. Hope it makes you feel good. I could care less.

It's not about their cap space now. Until Matthews, Marner, and Nylander have extensions in place, it is impossible to know how tight the cap crunch will be. All things being equal, a 5MM raise between Nylander and Matthews negates any increase in the cap next year, and I think we know it will be more than that combined. Then Marner needs an extension the following year.

I've done the math several times with Matthews at 15, Marner at 14 and Nylander at 10 plus a slew of others signed that I no longer believe will be with the Leafs going forward (ROR, Bunting for example) and it always works out.

I'm not asking for you to spout expertise at all. What I'm doing is trying to confirm that you cannot describe him as a player, which is like the basic bare minimum knowledge level. You want to talk about the player and his contract and his value to the Blues with authority, and I'm trying to demonstrate that the takes you offer are solely based on analytics and/or writers who only watch hockey through analytics. A ka thoroughly unsubstantive.

But yeah, I think the avoidance to give even a basic description of the player tells everyone everything they need to know about this supposed authority.
