i wouldn’t hate karlsson but this deal doesn’t make sense for the islanders and pulock likely won’t waive his NMC for san jose.

The Islanders are win-now. Evidence of that was the Horvat trade. Nothing gets them closer to the finals than the Norris winner. It makes total sense.

getting rid of pulock to add karlsson upgrades the PP but doesn’t make a significant enough difference imo to make them an actual cup contender. that said i’m not really a believer in the team at all and wish they’d never traded for horvat and rebuilt instead. if they’re going all in like this they should try to get kyle connor or someone like that, not karlsson

Karlsson isn’t as bad at D as everyone on here says. He is tops in the league at zone exits and entries, whatever team he goes to immediately elevates their contender status. Really mindless comment from you sorry to say. Pulock isnt even close to the impact that Karlsson makes, like not even the same planet my guy.

no question karlsson is better than pulock, but pulock is still at worst an elite second pair player next year. again if we’re giving up this much i’d rather get a player who’s going to be a part of the core for the long haul and not someone who could go back to being good to meh as soon as next year. this isn’t a team that will give karlsson the open ice to do what he does best because no one else aside from barzal is really capable of playing that style. not to mention karlsson was riding the best shooting percentage of his career this year, almost double his average.
