I hate but like this trade. From both a Vancouver and a Colorado perspective.

I think the Canucks would rather get who they get at 11 than take Byram, injuries have made him slightly more risky than not now.

Trading Byram who is cheaper defenseman long term is the last move the Avalanche will do with Toews being in last year and about to get paid... Hell Sam Girard at 5aav is likely more then Byram will be over next 4 years on average...

Pricey, but the Nucks jump at this. Avs dont. Pod doesn't fill any long term need(hopefully) and there is no Dman in the draft or f.a that could come close to replacing Byram, even harder once you factor in he will be under 5m on a bridge. I would consider this for Toews.
