One last pitch to see reason

Created by: jonh514
Team: 2023-24 Montreal Canadiens
Initial Creation Date: Jun. 26, 2023
Published: Jun. 26, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
We implore you Winnipeg Jets, don't do what the Habs did for so many years, don't put yourself in "middle of the pack" hell. If you don't have Elite talent on your team, it's a crapshoot if you even make the playoffs year to year, but you definitely ain't winning the cup.

Make an accelerated rebuild decision!

yes but they are not top pair D now, and maybe never (i want them to be but i dont know) . and yes they will get better. But we dont have the knowledge that they will all be good enough to start trowing the future away, thats a short sighted move. 3 years ago people were comparing norlinder to lidstrom. let them grow then suround them. we need to draft our own star players with our high picks, not trade the future away for star players when we dont have the backbone of our team yet.

I mean... I thought what I saw from Matheson,Guhle,Barron last season was pretty compelling. Matheson is a number 1/2 in my mind. Guhle is currently a 3/4. Barron is currently a 3/4.

Harris, Xhekaj, Savard, Kovacevic are all fine bottom pair players.

We are missing a player in 1 incredibly important spot. That's my personal perspective. Do I hold up the team from trying to compete until I have a body in that chair? No! All teams have holes. There is no perfect team and there are no perfect players.

i mean this same defense was one of the worst in the leagues. Barron was playing mostly sheltered minutes too. i think they have show a lot of promise but its not the year to jump the gun. defense wins championship, you cant have a shakey defense like that and expect to win. the right move is tocwait and keep building for the future.
