If the caps retain salary on Mantha I doubt they would be giving away picks in the deal, with more retention Mantha is worth at least a 3rd

Why would the Caps trade Mantha and 2 picks for nothing. They could waive him, bury the salary (he's UFA end of next season), or more likely buy him out and pay less than the cap hit over 2 seasons (in effect almost like retaining salary...) all that and NOT lose two draft picks for vapor.

Brown already said he wants to go to the oilers and one other team l can't remember. 4 years for a guy coming off a missed season to injury isn't a good contract either, imo.
