A different trade back scenario

Description
Thoughts? Just tossing this against the wall, not sure I have a strong opinion one way or the other.

VGK has Petro and Whitecloud locked up long-term on the right, so by way of personnel, Korczak's ceiling on usage is what....3rd pair and potential for promotion during injuries? Jumping 11 spots seems like a decent parlay of value.

MN gets a big, mobile and fluid skating RD that fits their timeline.

Korczak would be a good pickup, but I think he'll play more in Vegas next year, and they're cap situation is tight so they could really use him. Im hoping we could trade Addison for Barron or Kovacevic from MTL.

There is no reason Vegas would pay to move up in the draft. Especially if it's at the cost of there already finite picks. Assuming they trade it, it would be for the improvement of this current team.

Throwing Korczak into this is laughable. He's going to be a main-stay on the blueline in a couple years.

Yeah hard to say - Vegas doesn't make predictable or conventional moves and they have Petro, Theo and Whitecloud locked up and all play the right side. Probably not a ton of incentive to deal Korczak but 32 to 21 is a substantial jump.

Like your thinking on the MTL trades though - Barron I prefer for his upside and age, but both are solid and interesting targets to keep on the radar.

Korczak isn't being "thrown in", that's the primary cost of moving from 32 to 21 lmao. The 5th is the nothing-burger toss-in.

Yeah, still not following the logic. In what world does this make sense for Vegas? We have no need to move up, we're trying to win now.

In the world where they care more about netting positive value of surplus assets than they do developing prospects and building for the "next era."

If Korczak is not a part of the win-now model - which he's presumably not given that you have Petro, Whitecloud and Theo all locked up - then he's also presumably not in the "untouchable" bucket. And if he's not in the untouchable bucket, then it stands to reason that the FO would be open to dealing him for a price that aligns with their priorities.

Once you reach that point, then the only real consideration should be max value + need. Vegas doesn't have a ton of "needs", seeing as they just wont the cup. IMO, max value trumps need here.
