I’m not sure St. Louis does that. Sounds like PHIs new GM wants to get out of Sanheims deal and Krug basically has the same deal but for half the term.

The reason isn't the money, its the length. If Krug would accept by all means Briere would agree. Krug doesn't want to move his kids unless its to hometown Detroit. Its all a matter of family.

If it’s length not money, then the Blues wouldn’t give up a 1st for the player swap.

I think the Blues wanted a younger defenseman who's locked up long term while also shedding Krug's deal. Its only a minimal difference but it would get them a younger top-4 defenseman.
