He probably is, at least in sheltered third pair minutes. But it's a lot of faith to put into two rookie defenders on a Cup contender (plus a second year D in Bahl.) I'd rather have the insurance of another minutes eating puck-moving defenseman like Bear.

I don't know that Boqvist is, especially on a short term deal. I don't see many teams coming to offer him an offer sheet, and the Devils don't really need to offer more than the QO to him. You may run the risk of an Offer sheet with McLeod because of his faceoff capabilities but it seems unlikely and even if it does, you probably have the forward depth to just let him walk. They have some leverage with the bottom 6 for sure.

I think McLeod probably gets sub 2 AAV unless he gets a 4 year deal like Kampf.
