I heard a rumor that Philadelphia and Carolina agreed to a trade that would send DeAngelo back to Carolina for effectively nothing, with Philadelphia paying half his salary, but it got voided because of a rule that was made to prevent teams from trading a guy and then immediately reacquiring him with salary retention, effectively trading the cap hit but keeping the player. Apparently this trade could still happen – they just have to wait until a full year has passed since he was traded to Philadelphia.
How would you Canes fans feel about this? He’s been replaced by Burns, so I assume he would come back in a lesser role, probably as a Gostisbehere/deHaan replacement.
