Would be absolutely amazed if Jarry signs a terrible deal like that.

Jarry did not have a good season in a contract year and has yet to proven he can stay healthy and be a reliable #1 guy. This deal is a slight increase to his old deal for a one year prove it deal and if he performs he will likely get paid from somewhere I just do not see it in Pittsburgh.

    1. I'm not paying Jason Zucker $5,000,000 to play on the third line
    2. Jason Zucker and Tristan Jarry are not coming back
Look for a player like Pierre Engvall my guy.

With the way Sully has employed the lines in the past this is just to show what is on the roster not exact lines except the special teams Zucker probably plays L2 beside Malkin and Raks. 2 neither Zucker nor Jarry have denied the possibility of coming back and with Dubas it could get done. I see Zucker taking a bit of a cut to keep his family in one place. Similar to why Rust made sure there was NMC in his contract kind of deal. Jarry could walk I just did not see better options at G without giving up the farm for the likes of Ullmark and Hellebyuck

Jarry was fantastic until he got injured this season. He's played the 6th most games over the past 3 seasons - so he clearly has proven he can stay fairly healthy. The injury stuff is a bit overblown. And he's also proven he's a reliable #1 guy. He's not elite or without flaws - but the free agent goalie market is weak, and he's the best UFA available. If he's a UFA next year he's automatically the 3rd best UFA at best. It would be amazing if he took a 1x3.75mil deal. That would make him the 27th highest paid goalie

The injury stuff is not overblown because he has missed significant time each of the past 3 seasons due to injury. He's also been below average on scoring chances. Like there were countless times this season where if he just made a save he should have Pens win the game and make the playoffs and who knows what happens from there.

If he missed significant time each of the past 3 seasons due to injury then he wouldn't have played the 6th most games over the past 3 seasons. So yes - it kind of is. The only injury thing to worry about is if he fully recovered from last years injuries.

He was 4th in the league in low danger shot save % - so clearly he made the saves he should have. We also know he was injured the back half of the season too that greatly factored into his performance. I'm not saying they should give him like 6x7 - but surely you can see that is a terrible deal from his perspective

Low Danger every goalie should save sometimes some squeak through but when it came to medium danger and high danger scoring chances Jarry was not good. High Danger he ranked 31st out of goalies with at least 1500:00 TOI which is at least 25 full games played. Medium Danger 8th. Low Danger 23rd. He also gave up the 16th most low danger goals. So, idk he's been pretty shakey my guy.

Exactly, but you specifically mentioned saves he should make - that's low danger. Yes I agree - he wasn't great at medium and high danger after coming back and playing injured. Where are you getting these numbers because I'm staring at MoneyPuck right now and it says 4th in low danger save %. And you said he wasn't good at medium danger and then said he ranked 8th? That doesn't really make any sense

No - he hasn't really been pretty shakey. He has 2 top 7 Vezina finishes in the last 4 years and was well on his way to a 3rd before he got injured. The free agent market for goalies also isn't good this year
