WOW. This would be daring. I'd love to seem them take a poke at Draisaitl and screw up Edmonton's chance to build a perennial contender. Montreal has a lot going for it with all the production from inexperienced players, but unless they won a cup in a year or 2 they'll be up against the cap pretty hard and will likely have to start selling over pieces for the next chance at a run. Carey got one year left, and is due for a $4 mil raise.

Still worth it just to see what happens. I think they might be more in the market for a trade for Nuggent-Hopkins though.

Chicago seems to be in the mood to take back old players. Give them Shaw, there's the cap space.

I'm sorry but Draistle aint going nowhere. (I'm not an oilers fan), Their GM said they will match every deadly offer, and lastly why on earth would Leon leave the Oilers for the Habs? If this was to happen the Habs would be insane and would win many cups.

Easy to see why he'd leave: The Oilers are never going to be his team. It's McDavid's team. And there is no way Chiarelli can match that big an offer without wrecking his team. He'd have to move RNH and/or Lucic (good luck) would be crushed on any negotiations with McDavid, which start next year. Indeed, anything about $9M he'd probably have to leave alone.

I do, however, see a few flaws in this plan: 1) no money left to re-sign Carey Price and, down the road, Max and Danault. Also, 2) not sure you can offer Draisaitl 8 years if you don't own his rights. 3) the Habs farm had better start producing players because it hasn't been worth much in the last 5-6 years.

I would keep Shaw over trying to lure in Hanzal. Play Danault at #2 Ctr and Shaw as #3.
