This breakdown is an example of why I think this trade is impossible in real life. First, too many moving pieces would be necessary to facilitate it and it seems unrealistic. Second, unless you look to shake things up in a bigger way and remove Palmieri, the money just doesn't work as it is unlikely - and a little silly - to carry only 21 on the roster.

I also doubt that Toews would play for the Islanders at this point, I think it's more likely he retires or goes to a more likely contender, but he would be a nice plug in for losing JGP in terms of PK skills and faceoff abilities.

Note: The Clutter/Martin trades were just used as a way to remove salary; disregard the Panthers/Sabres being used :)
