Description
Not my ideal solution. That said, here is the rationale.

#1 The Kids - I think Filip and Kakko are the real deal. Laffy clearly needs to show more. So put him at LW1 and play him on special teams. It's sink or swim time. If it doesn't work out, put Kreider back at LW1 and Laffy at LW3.

#2 K'Andre Miller - There's room to throw him a bit more cash, but I left approx. $1M of CAP space for Drury to do a little maneuvering during the season. A three year bridge followed by a 8 year deal brings K'Andre to age 34.

#3 Barclay Goodrow - Not enough bang for the buck. A trade would be ideal (but I don't think there is any interest unless Anaheim needs some additional CAP to meet the league floor. A buyout seems more likely to me. The Rangers seem wedded to this guy, so he remains on the roster. That said, Nick Bonino provides far better value at $800K.

#4 - Zach Jones - Personally, I think he is the second coming of Michael Del Zotto. I understand his upside, but he has yet to demonstrate he can play defense in my view. Same story as Laffy, it's sink or swim time. Play him as LD3 for at least 20 games. Give him some PP time as well. If it doesn't work, they didn't sign Erik Gustafsson for their health. For the record, I'd be happy to be wrong about Zach, but I don't think I am.

Me personally I don’t think Panarin and wheeler should be on the same line. Panarin needs a role player like Fast to do the dirty work (maybe vesey?)

I think Bonino is 4C and goodrow would play wing. I’m just curious to see how slow Bonino and Pitlick are, if they can keep up

I would love Jones for 3LD but Gus has the size advantage and played well under Lavi last year for the Caps. (Jones probably traded if Gus beats him out)

I don't have any objections to these comments. With a little ironing out of the details, I believe we are on the same page.

I definitely want to see some changes to the lineup or experimentation. Gallant was too stubborn to try anything and then when games didn’t go his way, he would do random forward lines

I'm not sure who your post is directed to:

But Here's my take ------ 1st Line --- Laffy - Mika - Kappo --- Play Laffy at his natural position LW. Use him on the power play as well. If you put him at RW with Panarin he will "defer" 90+% of the time. Kreids plays 3rd LW and 2nd RW on the PP. You can always move them if Laffy flops.

Regarding Zach Jones, play for at least 20 games to start the season. Give him some intermittent shots on the PP in place of K'Andre. Let's find out if he's the real deal or not.

At the bottom of the page there’s special teams and your 1st powerplay unit is Laf Zibanejad Kakko Lindgren and Fox

That's correct. The second PP unit is Panarin - Trocheck - Kreider with Miller - Trouba on defense. The thought is to put Laffy at his natural LW and give him some significant PP time. If it doesn't work out, then put Kreder at LW1 and Laffy at RW2. When Laffy has played RW with Panarin on LW, he defer to the Breadman 90+% of the time. I want him shooting more. Hope that clarifies things

Why would you put 2 defensemen on your PP units?

Make that LW3 for Laffy. I spelled this out in the description.

Fine, if you want to put a fourth forward out there, that can work as well. I simply prefer three forwards and two defensemen.
