Reasoning for Dumba signing a 1 year deal :
- He had a poor season last year which is hurting his value.
- Gets an opportunity to play with Hughes on the top pair which should help his stats.
- Cap increases next year.

Yup it's a bit of a gamble, and I'm sure the reason he hasn't gotten the deal he was hoping for. There's not much left on the UFA market for D and spending future assets to get a better option won't be cheap. I would personally rather make a 1 year bet on Dumba and have the ability to sign a 3C with the left over cap space than keep Myers. I think the 3C position is probably their biggest current hole, other than possibly their backup position. Also in this AGM, if Bear comes back and plays at or close to the level he did with Vancouver last season and Dumba continues to struggle, Dumba could be dropped to the 3rd pair.
