Somethings gotta give

Description
Murray buyout next window. Brodie & Lafferty traded. Just a way to do it unless Willy is gone, which I doubt. Negotiations are dumb and so is the salary cap and how taxes vary throughout the league but whatever.
Rather bite the bullet on $2m next year than give assets away like Kyle loved to do.

The problem is PIT can't afford to fit the cap space as much as I would love those moves to be made.

The problem with these moves are that they weaken the team now (the trade) and in the future (the buyout), and adds surplus players. A Nylander and Robertson are too goos for the AHL both should be given an opportunity to make the team, there really isn't much of an opportunity here though. So, maybe they could trade Robertson+Murray somewhere, if there are no takers then add a 3rd. If the price is a 1st, then buyout it is.

Giordano should probably be able to play in the lineup as well. Holmberg and McCann as well. If the Leafs don't play their own, then their picks mean nothing anyways.

That’s the issue. This league is crazy and these garbage non cap teams are asking for a crap load for one year now of Murray lol. It’s gonna be a buyout. I’m not trading Robertson or rushing him yet. I don’t care if it’s more Marlies time to wait for right opportunity.

I mean that's fair point about Robertson. I don't think it would be a bad idea to let him cook in the AHL but maybe he wouldn't be too eager to do that. Although, considering he hasn't played in months he definitely should be starting in the AHL regardless. Probably better that he spends the entire regular season, since they will likely need him next year on a cheap deal. Holmber and McMann though are definitely guys that should be competing for bottom 6 spots along with Steeves.

If they move off of Brodie, they better well be getting an upgrade, a cheaper similar, or a younger replacement.

Totally agree. Only thought about Rutta was getting a cheaper guy to play with Rielly. But even cheaper and maybe 1 year would be ideal. I definitely think Brodie has value, but with the cap you need to sacrifice him.
