I wondered about something like Nylander for Dobson a while ago, but thought it had no legs because Mayfield was probably gone. Now that he has re-signed for 7 years, maybe a Dobson move could be explored? I'd make that trade in a heartbeat, and while I think both teams get what they need, I think the Isles would be wise to keep Dobson

Pulock, Pelech, and Mayfield are all defense first defenders, Dobson is an OFD, he's not really expendable at all.

Not saying he's expendable, but maybe the team could look to add some scoring up front. The Isles still have guys like Bolduc they can bet on. Like I said, I think the Isles would be wise to keep Dobson, but maybe a move for an elite player could be a move the Isles look at

I'm certain that Lou wouldn't go for it, if he's trying to trade for Nylander (or anyone really) it's going to have to be a forward making 5M+ and futures.

Quite frankly though, I don't think they can afford Nylander at 9M+, so they won't go out of their way to get him. They basically need to move Cizikas (2.5M)+Pageau (5M) or Nelson (6M) or Lee (7M) to make a significant addition that isn't signing a guy like Tarasenko, up front.

The way I see it, Brodie is on his way out, probably a cap dump but I may be wrong. But the return I see coming back for Nylander (8year extension) +something else is a top 4 DFD RD and a top 6 forward (50-60 point range)
Maybe a Nylander + Niemela package in return for a top 4 RD and a top 6 RW.

This id a very decent offer though but I don’t think the leafs do this just because they need a DfD. I also don’t see the islander dojng it because they have no OFD
