Ignoring the Karlsson trade (I have no clue what his value would be) why on earth would Arizona do that?

Petry is unmovable. I think they would want Smith instead of POJ and Granlund instead of Petry.

DeSmith I view better than Ingram to be back up to Vejmelko.

Granlund replaces Galchenyuk and is a much better forward and can fit in all and possibly center the Keller Schmaltz line.

If that’s the case then why hasn’t a deal been done?

Probably cause PIT would be taking on an extra 3m and stuck with Petry

He didn't have a great year but he isn't some liability player like Carter either.

I don't think it's a total hit against the player but more of a situation standpoint. There are currently 8 teams that have the cap to afford trading his deal. Buffalo doesn't have a need really and has some big money to hand out in extensions next season and he would really hinder that. Nashville has 5 RHD so far so the need isn't there at all. Detroit doesn't really have a need but a deal can be made there. Would need to be worth while for them big time like taking Chiarot back in a 1 for 1 trade. Minnesota has RFA's to sign so no cap. Winnipeg maybe but from what I understand every Canadian team are on his no trade list, or at least most. Seattle has Vince Dunn to sign plus 4 RHD on the roster already. Arizona has a couple RFA's to sign but would still have the space, has the roster spot but likely not a destination he would waive for. Chicago has 3 RHD right now, would be close enough to home I would expect and has the cap space. Since he isn't needed that would like charge a decent fee to send him there, if he even accepts a bottom feeder team as a destination. Anaheim has the roster spot and cap space but again a bottom feeder team far away from home, unlikely on his trade list. Basically you mix his cap, his trade clause and the Pens cap situation right now and that basically makes Petry immovable. If say Detroit, which I think is the only likely destination, were to say sure we will take him, it likely costs an arm and a leg. Marc Staal had 5.7M cap hit with only 3.2M salary. With a 6.25M cap hit for two years and 9.5M in salary left you would have to expect minimum first round pick and maybe more.
