Initial Creation Date: Jul. 16, 2023
Published: Jul. 16, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
As I see it trading Hellebuyck and Scheifele will put this team in rebuild mode. I don't see Chevy doing this unless the returns are unbelievable. As I say this, Hellebuyck will probably be traded. Winnipeg has some young talent that will should be able to fill some holes for the 24-25 season

I could see Scheifele staying for sure. If Hellebuyck isn't traded before opening night, he'll for sure get traded before the deadline. He did say he's not re-signing there.

It's likely the opposite way around. Scheifele and Wheeler are/were the problem. The only chance Helle stays is if those 2 are gone and the room improves. I don't think management wants to keep Scheif.

Not sure who is going to trade for Hellebuyck at trade deadline unless a serious contending team has a serious injury with their starting goalie. NJ should be the team trading for him but are they going to resign him? 9-10 mil a year long team for a 30 year old goaltender is a big risk. Resigning him right away for 1 year makes sense to NJ but I can't see Hellebuyck doing that. Will be interesting what happens with him.

It will be interesting how Scheifele reacts to Wheeler (and Dubois) being gone. He has been very quiet since Wheeler was bought out. If he is traded then WPG will be without a #1 and #2 Centerman.

Right now I would say a 2nd and a prospect. Gives WPG a chance to sign Dumba.

Would Hellebuyck sign a 6 year 7.5mil per deal if NJ traded for him? I don’t see doing anything over 8.

I don't see anything under 8.5. Whoever signs Hellebuyck to a long term deal is taking a risk. Hellebuyck will have to go shorter term or less $ per year.

I think NJ will pass on him. They’d probably rather see what they have in the system or maybe trade for another goalie that won’t cost as much.

I am hoping no team will trade for him and he decides to stay
