If Petry would waive for SJ, this would have likely already be done.

Doubt SJS eat that amount in retention and take on 2 yrs of Petry for a couple of picks (not even both from 2024) and a bunch of non prospects (5th and 6th round guys).

And I dont think given the age of the penguins as they are now, need another old guy signed long term

Petry doesn't want to waive for SJ- it's too far from his family in Michigan. SJS would have to flip him to another team
