Description

I didn't bother doing any trades (aside from Vladar) or resigning any AHLers. I also think Zadorov is probably interested in staying but we'll see. Theoretically this should leave CGY with 10-14 million to sign 2 RHD and for call ups during the year.

Of course he stay if a offered that much $$$ and term for a 30 year old. The Flames should have learned from the Kadri and Huberdeau contracts and their play last season, it's mistake to award these types of contracts. As a Leaf fan, I'm worried about having Trevling doing the same thing in his new GM job.

Yeah, think you're correct. It's not like the Flames have any reason to keep their core of upcoming UFAs....it hasn't been all that successful.
Same with the Leafs.....Matthew/Nylander and others will be UFAs next summer. Are the Leafs missing anything if those players leave if some other(s) offer inflated contracts?. Hopefully a GM can find good value elsewhere.
