Barring any type of injury to the top 6, Heinola being waiver exempt makes him practically guaranteed to be sent to the Moose. i think we see him up by Christmas though!

I agree with your point 100%, it makes sense but I think that they need to show Heinola that he has a spot on this team. If not, he's as good as gone and I don't blame him! He's already voiced this frustration last year. But I think the most likely scenario is the one you stated above. Being the only waiver exempt player...he probably gets sent down to start.

To be fair, he has nowhere to go. If he decides to go back to Europe or the KHL he essentially gives up ever playing in the NHL. zero leverage at this point.
