First off you could at least spell Erik Karlsson's name right. Secondly, I believe that it will be closer to the 5 than the 3 for the rebuild.

From the last I heard, Kunin should start the season in IR.

Oh, I didn't know that.
Thought he might be in the lineup this Oct for the 2023-2024 regular season.
I could be wrong though.

Lindblom on the 1st line and Granlund on the 4th? No Zetterlund? Macdonald and Simek over Knyzhov Burroughs and Thrun?

Typical national network, never watches the Sharks, probably only really watched Granlund play in his 20 games for Pitt, remembers Lindblom's name from when he was in Philly and so you get a roster like this.

3 years is more accurate! Sharks are likely to be a bottom 3 team this year and get likely 3 1sts (NJD likely make ECF)
Add those picks plus our high 2nd to an already close to if not top 10 prospect pool and sharks will have what should be a top 5 prospect pool. Add to that 40 mil likely to spend in FA and the sharks have the potential to take big steps in 24/25 and have the potential to be in the mix for the playoffs by 25/26 season.

lol yea national media treats sharks like an afterthought unless they are cup contenders!

Likely lines are likely
Duclair Couture Barabanov
Eklund Hertl Zadina
Hoffman Granlund Zetterlund
Lindblom/Peterson Sturm Kunin/Labanc

Thurn Benning
Ferraro Knyzhov
Vlasic Rutta

Burroughs
Smith

With Simek buried in the AHL likely barring any injuries.

The 2nd pairing D could be vastly different but having a solid shut down pair there to me is snark and Knyzhov and Ferraro are the best candidates for a **** down d pairing.

Its possible, but it also depends on the strides other teams make during that time. Given who ended up winning the lottery this year for Bedard the league will probably cater to them to get the newest star's team back to relevance. (Not that the league would ever help any franchise more than another cause that never happens)

I 100% agree and this is very hypothetical.
But if the sharks get the 1st OA (it’s very likely but you know how the lottery works lol) then having Celebrini and Smith Eklund as a young 2nd line would be exciting, and with 30-40 mil to spend a top line RW, 1st pair RD, and starting Goalie should be a reasonable hope for a FA pool pickup in 24 and 25 off seasons.
Add that kind of firepower and this team could make a pretty solid rebound.

For sure, any team that finishes that low that wins the lottery will have their "rebuild" sped up by a year or 2.

Seeing the light at the end of the cap hell tunnel is nice as well. 24 offseason has a lot of hope with so many picks (with more to come at the TDL) and 30+ mil cap space!

It’s weird to want losses this year but damn I want one of the top 2 picks in this years draft!

It is a weird feeling indeed...... I'm semi used to it from the baseball side of life lmao ended up working out decently for my Buccos...... Now lets just hope they somehow get smart enough to move on from the coaching staff and sign these good young studs long term (I know it ain't happening but a man can dream)

? Not sure who Quinn is unless its Priester, but if it is referring to Priester I think he's at best a 4th-5th starter. I think the whole Pirates coaching staff should be purged besides Donnie Kelly (Should be manager) Oscar Marin and the base coaches. Everyone else gonzo though. Also Nutting needs to open up his checkbook at somepoint.

I think 3-5 is pretty accurate. It's really dependent on how the fringe NHL prospects pan out. If Eklund, Shakir, Robins, Bordeleau, Gushchin, Thrun show that they can be impact players in this season or next, then you'll have them + The vets who are still quality players (Hertl & Couture) + REALLY high quality prospects entering the league (Smith, Musty, top five 2024 pick)

They have a lot of really good depth pieces currently but the issue is they lack the high end quality

Its possible to see 3 year turn around if everything works out to the high end of things. If everything falls into place which is why speculation is fun, but as a wise man once said..... impossible the future is to predict

Exactly, there's also teams that get competitive much faster than anticipated (i.e. The Kings, The Kraken, Stars, Rangers). I could see this Sharks team being competitive as soon as the year after this season. I can see them also taking 5+ years to get back to being in the playoff picture.
