Why he is a two way defense who can play top pair minutes , has a physical edge and can put up 30 points. Exactly what Rielly would thrive playing with and probably have a +50 point season again. Personally I think his contract is possibly under rated.

Not at all what Rielly thrives with.

He thrives with D that are physical and good in the defensive zone. He doesn't play well with Ds that prevent zone entries or that carry the puck.

His cap hit is attractive based on his current skillset. But paying him until he's 38 is less attractive.

I sill don't hate this for the Leafs window of success.

Maybe if it was just weegar for nylander, no need for Brodie.

I really like that they are both physical defense and also have played together very well giving more options for pairings . Brodie is very good but just never plays physical at all.We currently need more depth and relying on 40 year old Giordano sadly is just not a good option.

I mean the flames have no use for Brodie.

Ahh yes that is what makes this unrealistic sadly , this helps TML much more then CGY. It would be a incredible defense for us and I would even go crazy and throw out another piece or pick or prospect if there were a chance to get it done.
