Sens don't need to move Joseph next season. We have a lot of cap space opening up. I would do this trade now tho

Yeah, Sens can easily afford Joseph in 2024-25

And he'll have regained his value then with a bounce back season to his 2021-22 ability and the cap rising too

I wouldn't squander another 2 picks including a quality one. But at the same time, I am not a genius like Pierre Dorion

I am trading Kubalik for a pick instead, no brainer (because I can't use my brain as well as the genius Pierre)

I'd rather move Kubalik as well, even if its for future considerations. If that's not possible, I take this.

How would it not be possible though? 1 year at 2.5 AAV, 20 goals 45 pts last season, scored 30 goals in the past. Some team would certainly make some place for him.

You're underestimating the value of cap. Not to mention that Kubalik isn't a great driver of play.

If you're really thinking about it too, it someone wanted to spend 2.5m on a player. It would be Thomas Tatar who is significantly better than Kubalik who hasn't signed yet. So, maybe we see a trade when he's signed.

But your brain, my brain, and any other fan brain doesn't begin to comprehend what is going on and what the climate and the market for players is. It's entirely possible teams are asking for Kubalik with a pick because they know there in cap trouble.

Yeah but no matter how you slice it, 2.5 AAV is pretty cheap for some good depth scoring. Some teams could play with their LTIR accrued space, bury a player in the AHL, don't use a 23 men roster, etc to create some cap space and add that kind of player.

Every year, and I say this for as long as I have been following the NHL, there's always a guy surprisingly not signed or something. Tatar will end up signing somewhere, unless he doesn't want to play in the NHL anymore

And of course teams will try to use their leverage on Dorion, as usual. Our GM is not the smartest out there, to say the least. He's the one always putting himself in bad situations.
