Dahlin hit major career roadblocks on his elc, which also saw multiple coaches and a gm get fired which contributed both to a dip in play and a bridge contract.

Power isn't the point producer that dahlin was.

Dahlin also played 3 full seasons on his elc. Power's first elc year was burned with 8 games.

Everyone’s path is different. You watch the Sabres more than me but I’m surprised you’d so definitively put a cap on Power’s ceiling. I remember watching Dahlin a few years back wondering how he got picked #1 overall, nothing special. Now he absolutely is something special - perennial Norris candidate. Dmen take time to come good; see no reason Power can’t too and if that’s the case, I don’t see him signing 8 x $8 anytime soon but what do I know
