Possible move in the off-season

Created by: NYRxLundqvist
Team: 2024-25 New York Rangers
Initial Creation Date: Oct. 27, 2023
Published: Oct. 27, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Trocheck would be a really good 2c behind ROR in nashville. I think nashville gets the better player but rangers save cap.

He scored 60 points last year. Even as a Preds fan, why would you make this move?

Yea and? Lol

The 3rd line is actually good. Trocheck brings speed, offense, defense, physicality and grit

Exactly. It's nothing against Trochek as a player or as a person. But the sad reality is that the Rangers are broke and have no cap space. So we need to be making smarter decisions money wise. He realistically shouldn't have been signed in the first place. Imagine what this team could have done with a Panarin-Chytil-Lafreniere line last year. Everyone wants to run Goodrow out of town but can't face the sad fact that Trochek might be a cap casualty too.

Yeah lol ok why don't you go look at the rangers cap situation over the next few years and even if it goes up 4m this off-season still going to struggle

You have a 2-way center who can score 60 points making only 5m, you don't get rid of that.

Ok who's spot is he taking in the top 6? Realistically rangers should've never signed him

How can you imagine what the team could have done with a Panarin-Chytil-Laf line last year? You have been proposing trading Panarin for anyone who can lace up their skates. At least be a little self-aware of your past commentary. Trochek is playing third line this year. Let's see what his production is playing the full year in that role. If you look at his career stats, the $5.6M is not out of line for a 2-way center.

Panarin has looked good this year but if he goes back to his ways of being lazy then he just hurts the team especially with a 11m+ cap hit

I am aware of my past commentary and I stand by my past commentary. If Panarin plays like he did in the playoffs, I want him launched into space. If you are going to play with that little effort while literally bending the team over contract wise, you don't deserve to be a New York Ranger. However, Panarin has looked good playing with Chytil and Lafreniere so for now he can stay. You guys take things way too personally. Everyone thinks that I was pro-trading Panarin due to Panarin as a person or something. When really it has been 100% about what he does/doesn't do on the ice. He looks like a new player under PL and with the young guys. Therefore I have no problem with him staying. If he gets back to his old ways he can go.

Trochek's contract is fine if he is a 2C but is a huge overpay as a 3C. Especially because I'm of the opinion that he should be nowhere near the powerplay.
