Klingberg is a cap dump, what are you considering compensation for helping out Toronto?
Hirvonen has done nothing in North America, hasn't proven anything on the Leafs because of an injury and frankly has minimal value to other teams other than the Leafs right now.
Timmens is hurt and had a flash in the pan few games last year, outside of that he's a 7th D man or an AHL'er.

There's nothing that would cause the Flames to pair two of their better trade chips in a deal and retain on both while taking on money from Toronto. This deal makes no sense.

This is Hirvonen first year in North America dude has played 2 games in the ahl what do you expect him to accomplish. Timmins has potential he's only 25, had 14 points in 25 games last year. Klingberg is only there to make the money work but thats why theres a first and a third in the deal.

So you think Hirvonen and Timmins gets that across the line? Two of the better D men on the market at 50% for both of them using 2 of the Flames 3 retention slots??

I don't expect anything from Hirvonen yet, which is why I asked, why would the Flames want him in a deal right now? It's a shot in the dark with no real tangible record of success or potential so far. He could be great down the line but Toronto knows that better than anyone right now which is why he's worth more to the LEafs than he is to anyone else in the league right now.

Timmins had 11 points in 18 games then went radio silent down the stretch and was health bombed in the playoffs. He also had only 2 points in 1 goal games last season while being positive in goal above shooting talent so he seems to have just gotten very lucky in garbage time quite a bit. Until he can justify his contract he's a no value move. He has potential to also be a career AHL'er at 1.1M
