Description
Players they Flyers should trade by the deadline:

Sean Walker
Probably going to be the top consolation prize after Tanev is moved from Calgary. He has been the Flyers best all-around defensemen so far this season and any contending team looking to boost its defense corp should have the Pro Scouting department in Philly. Currently playing over 21 minutes per game, he has the luxury of being someone who can be relied on if needed to step up in the playoffs or providing steady play on the bottom pair. Can be retained down to $662,500 non-pro rated on an expiring deal. Target return should be a 1st round pick or a combination of a 2nd and solid prospect. I'd also love to see him back in Philadelphia after this year on a multi-year deal.

Nick Seeler
Decent depth option for teams but his value would be the cheap cap hit. Can be retained down to $193,750 non-pro rated and is going to provide hard nosed play. He has the inclination to be slightly out of position looking for the hit but is your standard bottom pair defensemen. Market is a little scarce for expiring LHD and think he should net a mid-round pick.

Marc Staal
Him being hurt doesn't quite help his trade value but he's a brand name and some old head GMs might recall his role with Florida's cup run last year. Wouldn't really trust him on a nightly basis personally but is probably better and a more optimal player to have on the roster compared to some contending team's call ups. Target return of a mid/late round pick.

Players the Flyers can keep or trade by the deadline:

Ryan Poehling
Poehling being an RFA makes him an intriguing player to keep for the Flyers to retain for next year or be a low-cost, with some team control for one more year, for a strapped contender. He's been solid in his role but he's not going to be anything spectacular for a cup run. What you see is what you get, and that's going to be someone who plays hard, will be in on the forecheck/backcheck and can be sound defensively. Would target something in the mid range draft pick wise or package him with one of the above players to get a bundle deal

Morgan Frost
He's probably the most creative player on the Flyers in terms of offensive facilitation but has been somewhat polarizing within the fan/coaching base. The first benching was warranted, the second one was questionable. But if the Flyers are going to cycle the younger players with load management, he's still someone I'd like to have on the team. Don't think he can clip the 60-70 point range year after year, but with a lack of centers on the team, I'd still like to have him. Long-term fit is still debatable with Cutter and Michkov on the horizon, but selling low just to sell isn't a necessary step. Would trade for a player in a similar situation or a similar return like Alex Newhook.

Cam Atkinson
Veteran guy, can provide goalscoring and some supplemental PowerPlay work. Largest obstacle is going to be his additional year at 5.875M. Doubtful the Flyers would retain on him and with the middle six market set as a 3rd round pick, would think the Flyers keep him until next TDL and trade him to the highest bidder. If traded, could see it being a hockey trade but think the coaching/FO staff like him and he likes being in Philadelphia.

Scott Laughton
If the rumors last year hold any weight, the Flyers probably missed the boa t on trading him at his highest price (rumored 1st round pick). De facto captain by some, Laughton is the typical Swiss-Army knife player that is sound in all three zones. He makes strong reads and has a little bit of a specialist role in all areas of the game. Personally think the market is closed for a 1st round return, but any team that needs a middle-six player with intangibles should be calling the Flyers.

Players the Flyers should keep unless wowed:

Travis Konecny
Hard to see the Flyers selling him unless something absurd crosses their plate. Not sure how much green he's looking for on an extension, but it seems like he wants Philly and Philly wants him. Best player the Flyers have on the ice (outside of Carter Hart), so can't see the Flyers trading him without some premium coming back in return. He's kinda in the middle of being a star player and being a solid contributing player. Teams would have to believe he can continue to perform and get better since that is what they would be in effect paying for. Would trade him for multiple 1sts or some higher-end prospects.

Carter Hart
Probably the most off-the-block player on the team, I can't see Hart being traded unless the Flyers are getting a premium price. Finally getting a franchise caliber goaltender in Philadelphia has been a long time coming and with no legitimate, 6-foot put prospect in their system, can't bail on him unless they are getting a pretty penny. Not sure how many teams would be both in the market and willing to meet the Flyers price, but unless it is another multiple 1sts or equivalent type trade, I can't see him getting traded.

Travis Sanheim
Hard to write this staring down another 8 years on his contract, but Sanheim has stepped up this year. If he can repeat this year, he might be someone the Flyers can continue to build around on the back end. The Krug deal fell through this past year and Sanheim's value has certainly appreciated since then. The only reason I'd move him just to move him is to have the cap flexibility but if he can maintain this level of play, he's worth the money.

Nice write up. Looks like a quiet deadline for the Flyers but I think that's alright. Players developing, still need some veteran good around to lead.

I think NYR might target a 3C now with uncertainty around Chytil’s health

They need to trade two forwards. Atkinson retained is a decent option. Gauthier will likely be in for some games at the end. They already have a log jam now and also need to get looks at Desnoyers, Tuomaala and Lycksell

Vegas has arguably the best D corps in the league when healthy if they add at the deadline it won't be at D
