2024 2nd would be conditional where it would become a 2024 1st if the Rangers make the ECF/SCF (similar to the Andrew Copp trade in 2022).
San Jose gets a young defenseman in Robertson, who could probably crack San Jose's roster and strengthen their blue line for the future.
Robertson probably doesn't have an NHL future with the rangers as he is behind Lindgren, Miller, Gustafsson, and Jones, so he gets to play NHL minutes with San Jose.
San Jose gets the 4th as compensation for the retention of Duclair.

I think the conditional 1st is excessive. I would be 100% on board as is with this deal.
