So much wrong with this projection I don't know where to start. But I'll start with the fact you've missed the season in between and its effects. Going with the top end of projections at 88 mil and with every player signed through that year and fit to start the year, and if we assume Kovalenko is there (makes little odds as the player would have to be similar cost), the Avs have just over 3 mil to sign 4 roster players and 3 scratches. Therefore one of the players on this roster won't be likely to be there though that cap won't be extra to play with as it will have been used up to a great degree on whoever they sign to fill those spots.
Being generous let's assume they carry on with the top end of the projections and it runs to another 4 mil increase as shown here.......if Kovalenko has panned out then he likely gets more. I'm of the opinion they may set MacKinnon's salary as a kind of 'internal cap' so maybe you save half a mil on Mikko on here. If Meyers hasn't panned out by now he'll be gone. One of the D is likely gone as the cap casualty from the previous year and other salaries will need to be accounted for if they've signed anyone to multiple year deals. Behrens and Ritchie may not be ready. If Byram has played to his potential I'm thinking he isn't going to take that deal, at least not for that term anyway. Add to that the goaltending is now a considerable worry with Georgie walking.
So....can it be done on paper? Yes, maybe, with a lot of jiggery-pokery and hoping and praying and a lot falling 'just so'. In the real world? Not so much!
