So based on your pick guess, you don’t think the rangers will go far

And they don’t really have a need for Brannstrom. Maybe different prospect

This would seem to be quite a bad trade for ottawa

Rangers do this in a heartbeat...Ottawa doesn't.

I actually do think the Rangers will go far but for arguments sake it won't be a higher pick than that range. If the pick is 32nd overall I'd still do the trade from Ottawa's perspective.

Brannstrom is not a prospect, this is his 3rd full season with the team. I figured that Erik Gustavsson might price himself out of New York so the Rangers would want to replace him and Brannstrom could be a decent replacement.

What would make it more balanced in your opinion?

I think Jones has proved capable since Fox has been out. Just need to bulk up and work on defense. So he can be a cheap Gus replacement

I meant prospect instead of Brannstrom so they can send a guy down to the AHL

it would cost a 1st + alone just to dump Goodrow so... and Kappo is barely if at all worth a 2nd, this is a massive L for OTT

Why do you have Ottawa making this trade? Kakko is a step down from Batherson.

Because I think the Sens need more gritty two-way players and not one-dimensional guys like Batherson.

That's why I targeted Goodrow, the rest of it was just to make up the value.

In the offseason? When everyone has $4 million more cap to work with?

why would OTT saddle themselves with a almost 4M$ barely 4th line player for a late first and a bust while giving up a 60+point player making less than 5M? this is a horrendously bad trade for OTT than i think the NHL would block it.

I understand the proposal but Goodrow AAV makes me pause

Batherson for Kakko + 1st draws some interest for me, although I think Batherson would thrive under a good coaching staff.

However Brannstrom for Goodrow + 4th makes me decline easily

Rangers don't see to have anyone on LD after Miller and Lindgren, unless they want to re-sign Gustafsson?

Either re-sign Gus or Jones looks pretty capable

Gustafsson is playing quite well vs his cap hit, so the Rangers should try to sign him but cap space will be too tight, no?

Not a big Jones believer personally but seems to do better than in the past

I mean yea he has, but he shouldn’t be their main priority or worth ruining the cap for. Id give him 2 years $1.5-2m max

But he could probably get more else where
