Team: 2023-24 Edmonton Oilers
Initial Creation Date: Dec. 8, 2023
Published: Dec. 8, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Seems fairly straight across, a struggling prospect for struggling prospect.

NYI defensive structure may give some freedom to Broberg, allowing him to play a bit more offensively and get more playing time.
EDM gets a shooter to play with 2 of the best playmakers in the league, giving Wahlstrom an opportunity to develop as a triggerman.

The caps don't give away their only right-shooting center...

From what I've seen across this site Dowd is someone the Caps will move come deadline so I took that narrative.
If you don't believe he will I understand, however do you think the value is off/do you think they would more so want a roster players over a pick?

Caps decline. Give us broberg. No need to move dowd unless it's for something great. Especially if you expect 50% retainage

If we are out of the playoffs and nearing the trade deadline the Caps will likely accept, only if you add a better prospect than Chiasson. He doesn't really do anything for us.

I think Oilers would rather save Broberg for that Wahlstrom deal. Both are former 1st rounders in need of change of scenery. It’s a good match for both teams needs.

Dowd would help the Oilers at 4C. I think asking for a better prospect is reasonable considering he’s signed 2 years. If he was a rental it’s a different story. Assuming Wahlstrom comes in, we may consider letting Lavoie loose as they are both RWs, but he’s currently tearing up the AHL and is likely our first call up in injury. So he’s as good a forward prospect that we could move I think. Unless you had someone else in mind.

Yeah if Lavoie is added we would accept, but I think we also accept if its one of Petrov, Berezkin or Akey. But I don't see you guys trading away Akey as he's your best defensive prospect currently.

It's more like the Caps don't have any other Right Shot centers in their system that look to be close to the NHL. Milano, Aube-Kubel, TVR, and Jensen are more likely to go in my opinion. Teams need both Right shots and Left shots because they have advantages on their respective sides of the ice at the dot.

Actually I think Riley Sutter is ready for that 4C role, I think he could potentially turn into Jay Beagle 2.0. I want to see him actually get a shot at playing there if we trade Dowd for whatever reason or if he gets hurt again.
