I haven’t seen a lot of Hurricanes games this season, but from those I have seen, the goaltending has been terrible, but it’s not always their fault. The defense seems prone to uncharacteristic lapses and they’re not driving offense as much as they usually do. Despite having only one new defenseman (Orlov), they seem to have gotten away from the style that made them successful. Have they stopped listening to Brind’Amour? It’s almost getting to the point where a lot of GMs would be considering firing the coach, but it’s hard to imagine this group without him. He’s such a part of the team’s identity. I hope they can straighten it out before it gets to that point. I’d try a new goalie first. Maybe the defense would play better if they had more confidence in the guy behind them.
