Personally, I don't understand why the Canucks would trade a UFA-to-be defenceman plus other assets for a UFA-to-be defenceman.

The Canucks should be adding to their D corp, not swapping D-men out.

Edit: Calgary should wait for better offers, but in a pinch, better something than nothing.

I honestly believe Tanev will re-sign with the Canucks in the offseason regardless of where he is or if he's dealt this season, he's a player that fits the type of defence system Vancouver is deploying and his next contract is probably gonna be around 2.5 - 3.7million on a 2-3 year deal which is totally do able for a cap crunched team like the Canucks. He's a Veteran "shut down defensemen" that's dependable and has a lengthy and mostly positive history playing in Vancouver. Myers has such a unique skill set due to his size that I think he'll get a decent next contract that the Canucks won't be able to match what other teams will probably be offering him. He spends his offseason in Kelowna and it's been said he wants to stay close to home so to me if Calgary is looking for another defencemen that they could trade and sign for Myers to me sounds like a good fit
