    If Nylander is having to test free agency, 1) he's probably not going to be too happy with Treliving and 2) he's probably getting similar or better offers than 10Mx7 in Toronto. So, the Leafs will likely need to pay a lot more to bring him back at that point. Usually, once big-ticket players test free agency, they don't end up going back.

    No one is giving nylander over 11M and I think it take 2M over what Torontos offer is to get him to leave

    I wouldn't be so sure, but they don't have to, 10Mx7 in most other places will net him similar money to 11Mx7 in Toronto. He'll definitely have multiple offers in the 9-10M range which would be comparable or better than 10Mx7. Toronto would be the one that has to pay 1M+ if he ends up an FA.
