Description
DSweens in draft and development mode. Sign Pasta and continue to integrate kids. Try Bjork on RW with Marchy/Bergy where some scouts believe he will excel. Give Frankie V a shot at LW with Krejci/Pasta. Coming off injury and poor playoff hopefully he has worked extra hard this summer. With Spoons in the mix and no trade partner, he may start as 3rd L center with another under performer Beleskey on LW (see Frankie V review) with Backes on RW. 4th line is set between Nash, Acciari, Schaller, and playoff revelation Kuraly. Nothing sexy on D....seems K Miller will play LD until another mover can be made. Everyone else slots out with Postma as extra man. Lastly Doby will be given a shot as backup unless he falters or McIntyre flat out wins the spot in preseason. Certainly a letdown if expecting big moves but very judicious and patient decision making by DSweens who has learned from the poor signings and trades for Rinaldo, Hayes, Beleskey, etc....With a glut of prospects let's hope internal competition bears fruit sooner rather than later.

This seems to be the route the bruins are taking and I have no problem with this at all. I like the idea of giving Vatrano a shot in the top 6 because i think its a do or die year for him. If he gets into any huge slumps or is just not producing, players like DeBrusk, Heinen, and even Agostino will take his spot right from him. Same might even go for Beleskey. Im not looking for him to put up big numbers but, I at least want to see a solid third line checking winger

Dont see how that matters lol. Both have full NMC's and arent hindering anyones development. Atleast not yet

It's just they won't be as good when the kids get better

What does that have to do with the 17-18 bruins? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Neither will get traded this year

And that means what? They are actually early 30's so a good 6 or 7 years left anyway!!!

Pretty much the same with every other team!!!! That's why not trading away prospects and draft picks is important!! So we can keep the young guys going!!

Can't even believe I am replying to your post....... -2 stars for that comment

I like how you resisted putting Krug and McAvoy together. I don't like Vatrano getting the nod over Beleskey to play Krejci's wing, as I'm not sure I'm thrilled with having our 3rd line return 2 of the guys that made it a disaster last year. Atleast Backes is better than Hayes, but that line looks really, really bad and likely to be dominated. In my mocks I usually put Beleskey on either line 4 or 2 with the thoughts that if he's on line 4 he can just check people as well as chip and chase. If he's on line 2 then maybe Krejci and Pasta get him going. For line 3 we got to see what he and Spooner get accomplished as a tandem last year.... and it wasn't a whole lot. Add in the plodding Backes who will make any line he's on slightly worse and that seems like a terrible combo. If you were to construct the roster the way you have it, I would just flip Bjork and Backes. The theory behind why that would work better is because Backes won't be able to bring down Bergeron and Marchand much and Bjork is a better skater and will keep up with the speedy Spooner better. Backes is also a very good defensive forward, so he'd be a better fit to match up against the other teams #1 line. I like this mock very much though so I will give you a 5.
