Wahlstrom oh my

Created by: SlimTJ100
Team: 2023-24 New York Rangers
Initial Creation Date: Dec. 29, 2023
Published: Dec. 29, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Would be fun to see a Rangers / Islanders trade

(I KNOW IT WILL NEVER HAPPEN)

This one works for both teams Sykora is relentless player, not NHL ready yet. Wahlstrom needs a change of scenery where he’ll play every game on RW 3rd line

Isles get a more offensive Dman which I think they need…and most importantly, Bortuzzo needs a beard. He can have that in Manhattan because Lou has dumb rules 😂

Islanders pass.
NY Rangers already have rookies like K'Andre Miller, Braden Schneider, Kaapo Kakko, etc, and there is no need to bring in another rookie.
Oliver Wahlstrom has a bright future for the Islanders, and it's unfair to trade him to a team like the NY Rangers.
If I was NY Islanders GM I would keep him for another 2-3 years, and see where his game is at.

None of those guys are rookies

Wahlstrom gets scratched on a regular basis

Wahlstrom does not have a bright future. We should be having the Whalstrom bust discussion at this point.

I wouldn’t go that far just yet. I think a guy like him may just need a change of scenery. Ala Tolvanen. Sometimes it clicks in a different organization

Kravtsov didn’t want to be an NHLer was his problem. He missed home

I’ve watched wahlstrom and he isn’t good. His best tool was his shot and that isn’t all that impressive. He also can barely skate

Kravs never should have been drafted above the 3rd round. That was the almost unanimous ranking outside of 1 scout who went to bat and lost his job because he was wrong. Very different situations here. Walhstrom probably needs a change of scenery(new coach and system)

Gordie Clark blew countless picks. Lias Andersson and Kravtsov headline them. Olaf Lindbom is another. He was the wrong man essentially leading the rebuild

Kratsov was definitely givven a first round grade, just not a top 10 one.
He was definitely a risk/reward pick, but yeah I dont disagree clark missed badly on him and andersson. The following 10 picks though weren't exactly slam dunks though. So Its not like the rangers missed a sure thing at 9.

I like the idea of wahlstrom, but Im not moving jones and skykora for him, and I dont want Bortuzzo. Id say something closer to a 3rd for Wahlstrom and we're good. He's a buy low candidate and a 3rd is accounting for the rangers needing to overpay Lou.
