You can't just sneak Campbell into that deal without paying more. You probably need to retain more on Campbell and add in another early-round pick, maybe a 2nd rounder.

Calgary is about to enter a rough rebuild, package is way more than they'd recieve in a tanev move. with money ratained its 2.75 to bury him in minors and be off the books before any upcoming prospects need possible large raises. Think the flames can get better or more, wait n see i guess

A rough rebuild? Their "rebuild" will be 2-3 years long max, and we are already part way through year 1. Their prospects in Coronato, Pelletier, Zary, Wolf are already too NHL ready for a long term scorch earth rebuild and the Kadri/Huberdeau deals are unmoveable

And in 3 years campbell would be off the books, and you have 3 pieces in place of tanev to help out with the rebuild. teams havent dropped massive packages for rentals in recent years, taking on a dump like campbell will be the best move long term imo

Try that math again. Campbell has 3 more years remaining. I just said Calgary is halfway through year 1 of a 2-3 year rebuild. Before Campbell's contract ends Calgary would have to pay all of those above listed prospects and the 2 Calgary is receiving in this trade.
