I would do this immediately as well. As long as Perry's personal issues are under control.

I can't see a world where Tanev Re-Signs for this. You're talking about one of the toughest defenders in the league....... Sure............I'd do this in WONKA LAND- You've locked up Willy for 8.....Mathews for 4.5 years.........If you're gonna swing.....Make sure she's an 11
That being said.......I do this if he re-signed for this EXACT NUMBER

Guy took a puck to the face, ate it.....Then came out to play the next game.......Then he was loved in his locker room. You'd be lucky to get a discount for 4 years......Definate raise.

I think Tanev will take less. He's 34. He's a Toronto boy. 3.5 sounds right. Makes sense to me.

If He extended for 3.5....... I'd be one of the happiest guys on the planet. I just don't see it. NHL players aren't the same.

Raise on 4.5m for 4 years? Are you suggesting 4.75m-5m for 4 years?

I don't see any team touching that based on him being 34 years old already.

Fair! I see him getting 4-4.5m x 3 years in free agency. I assume that 3rd year will be nice to him.

But 3.5m x 2 years is the tops I would spend for him.

3.5M is about right but he will want more than 2 years. 3 minimum is my guess

You are probably right. I am sure his agent will push hard for that 3rd year. I just love it quite a bit less with the 3rd year being there. But it might be needed.

I wouldn't say he left nothing. Look at a team like Tampa, they have NOTHING or very little.

We have Cowan, Niemela, Minten as legit prospects right now. And we have a few goalie prospects that are actually very good also.

But yes a first is expensive. Hence why I wanted the 3rd back and preferably a reasonable extension as well.
