Description
After 41 games Montreal have a record of 17-18-6 and sit at 6th in the Atlantic, 7 points short of the playoffs. The playoffs are not impossible, but it shouldn't surprising too miss them another year. The team is still young and the playoffs shouldn't be the target in 2024. Suzuki, Caufield, Slafkovsky, Dach, Guhle and Barron has to gain more experience before to start competing with big teams. In this ACGM, I will talk about every players that played this year and every missing assets Montreal need to finish the rebuild.

First off all, the players that will be trade for the 2024 trade deadline.
#6 Chris Wideman; I have nothing to say about him, if he come back from his injury, a 7th pick should be ok.
#26 Jonathan Kovacevic; Kovy has played well since the start of his career (last year). He proved that he is a full time NHLer. This year, 5 goals and 7 points in 38 games. He got paired most of the time with Guhle. These two had great games but also have tough moment due to their inexperienced. The former 74th overall pick in 2017 could be trade for a 2nd round pick in my opinion. A team like Edmonton that need some dept at the blue line should be interested.
#34 Jake Allen; The main problem in Montreal is the rotation of the three goalies. Jake Allen is the one that fit the least in the team. I think a 3rd round pick could be a fair value if 50% of his contract is retained.
#58 David Savard; This guy is a player you can't hate. He sacrifices his body for his team. He blocked multiple shot this year and last year too. Savard can take big minutes every night and give rest to the 1st pair of defense. Yes, in Montreal, he played with Matheson on the first pair but I think he is a top 4 in reality. With a remaining year at his contract, the value could be a bit higher than Kovacevic because of his cheap contract. Something that is equal to a 2nd round pick and a 4th round pick should be what Montreal ask for.
#70 Tanner Pearson; he had a great start of season with but stop producing. A 4th round pick or minimum a 5th round pick is fair.
#91 Sean Monahan; it's not anymore a secret, he has a verbal agreement with Kent Hughes that at the trade deadline, he has to be trade to a contender team. He is the second best center available after Lindholm. A first round pick is fair in my opinion.

To continue, the players that could be trade if we received something really big.
#8 Mike Matheson; The most valuable veterans on the team. He has 31 points in 43 games. He is easily a top 15 defenseman this season. It's very impressive how he controlled the puck. A 1st round pick and a 2nd round pick should be the price. A top prospect could be fair too.
#11 Brendan Gallagher is the fan favourite. He has been all his career and gain the heart of every fan. He has big contract so he wouldn't be trade but even if he was 1 000 000$, he has an insane leadership and bring something very important to the young team, a good attitude.
#17 Josh Anderson; Anderson had difficult start of season. He couldn't score. Since December, he has completely change. He won the Molson cup of December. I don't know what his price could be, but it would be surprising to see him trade because everyone loves this guy.

To finish, the core. This players shouldn't be trade for anything unless it's unbelievable. This players shouldn't move.

It's a big trade but it if you look closely, Edmonton has some of the best players on Earth (McDavid, Draisaitl, Bouchard, Hyman) but the thing they need the most is dept players. All the players in that trade have small contract. Be mind open, this is the right value.

I want real arguments not "everyone decline". Tell me what to change or what you prefer. I want a discussion

So to start with the trades, I agree with almost everything, all the players in the gone by TDL this year is fine, I don't think we're going to get a huge return for Gally (Or Anderson unless he continues to step it up), Gally doesn't have the value required to get a good return, he's too old at too much cap hit. That being said, Gally should retire a Hab, or even if he'd like to resign for pennies and play 4th line for a few more years after this contract is up.
Where I mainly disagree is your understanding/opinion of who constitutes the core. Evans/RHP (or even Barron IN THE RIGHT DEAL) can be traded if the right deal comes along.
For the trades I just don't see the team trading Wideman, he's spent the entire year on LTIR, he's on an expiring deal, and he'd be a contenders 7th or 8th D, even for a 7th round pick he's just not that player anymore. What he is however is a room guy, Caufield, Dach, Slaf, Dvo, the dressing room seems to really like him.
For the Edmonton trade I feel the value is off for Montreal(But I will hear the opposite shortly so whatever), Montreal doesn't really need more LHD, Campbell's contract is too awful to pickup, and Holloway is just kinda meh. Not great for a 2/3C, a 2nd pairing shot blocking monster, a solid 2G a depth D, and PEZZ.
Too much given for Zegras imo, Beck and a 1st would be my initial offer, and I'd only add Harris if that was refused. Plus Anderson doesn't actually help Anaheim, no one wants him right now.
        Matheson is worth more.
And finally Lindstrom despite being ranked at 8 is likely to go much higher, even potentially 2nd depending on how the draft goes.

if im the Oilers this would be my offer:
        2024 1st & Bourgault to take Campbell
2025 3rd for Allen half retained
2024 2nd and Broberg for Monahan with no retention
keep scraps Pezzeta, Kovacevic and Savard

Thought Edmonton would want more defense dept.

        Bourque isn't available.

IMO a 1st, 2nd, Beck and Anderson is as good as it get for a MTL offer for Zegras, but it would need to be at least a top 15 pick for ANA to consider.

The EDM trade is just too much. If a trade doesnt make sense for both teams after you added 5 assets bwtween the 2 teams, it's just not meant to be.
