Description
I'm aware MTL may indeed get a 1st for Monahan, so I'm willing to tweak this as far as we can without giving up a 1st.

Poulin has had a bit of a rough road, but he's starting to pan out and would benefit from playing on a team where he can have a more prominent role.

Mtl getting a 1st for Monahan is a big maybe. That package is a fair swap. I don't see St. Louis doing that deal though.

Poulin seems kinda like Ylonen on the left side. What's his ceiling? Can he make the middle 6, or is he a bubble 4th liner?

It's hard to tell really. He's had a troubled start to his pro career. Injuries really derailed him and then he took player assistance leave, etc... Now, he's really coming alive and until we really see him get a good stint in the NHL it's hard to tell. If I had to put my guess his ceiling is probably a high level 3rd liner and the worst a very good 4th liner.

As far STL, do you mean because they may be in the race come the deadline or the value?

I kinda like this deal, just don't know enough about Poulin to decide. LW is an organizational weakness for the Habs, especially when Monahan leaves. There's Roy & Heinemann of course, but it would be good to see some other options to keep them honest.

The good thing about Poulin is that he's both a C and W, so you get some versatility out of him. Definitely not a shoe-in prospect, but there's definite potential. I'd say the next best that would be available is Nylander.

No, I think the Blues are out of the playoffs easily. I just think that Sundqvist is a better player and Puustinen will never be a regular in the NHL. The 3rd rounder might push it over the edge.

I think a 3rd is what they'll get, so I figured adding some depth would make this a good deal.

I’m for getting Monahan but I think you could get him for less
