Oilers add a seasoned top-6 forward in Guentzal, and a young defence project in POJ.
Costs them high picks to acquire and also dump an underperforming Ceci's contract.
Sens add a veteran right-shot D to help shelter their young d-corps and get picks to aid with the continued rebuild.
Manage to recoup a significant amount of the acquisition cost of Chychrun too.
Pens sell high on Guentzel knowing they cant afford to resign him and get a young, cost-controlled Chychrun. Holloway is a project but could benefit from better deployment in Pittsburgh than he's getting in Edmonton. If Dubas likes Lavoie/Bourgault then these could be substituted pretty easily.
Just to be fair to Holloway, and I've been watching any game I can of the Oilers, and paying close attention to their streak, he has been a very pleasant piece for them lately. No doubt on the instructions of Knoblauch and Holland, Holloway started playing center for Bakersfield recently before his call-up, and showed quite well. Now, so far in two games playing center on the big club, the Calgary game and the Columbus game, he's looked pretty darn good there too.
If it lands them Guentzel, they'd have to consider it, of course, but at the moment, Holloway is a project that the Oilers seem perfectly content to continue with. He's getting his shot now, and is looking good so far, two games in. New coach, new vibe, new opportunity.
My vision of their new lines:
Nuge - McDavid - Hyman
Kane - Draisaitl - Foegele
McLeod - Holloway - Perry
Janmark - Ryan - Gagner/Brown
Moving Perry around as he needs rest, etc.
