Well the Leafs d sucks so Murphy would be easily better than everyone besides Reilly

Dont know if thats true either, its less a personnel issue for the leafs and more a structure issue.

And Murphy brings that very physical stay at home defender the Leafs need and would pair up great with Reilly as such. The problem right now with Murphy on the Hawks, is he's being asked to do everything.

I wouldnt be opposed to him but a 1st and niemela is pretty steep for us especially with no retention. He doesnt move the needle for us that much.

But your dumping Sammy's crap deal, and getting Raddysh who's an RFA.

Raddysh + 4th = Niemela
Murphy = Sammy cap dump + late 1st

The math isn't far off. Murphy alone is worth a 2nd and 3rd, add the Sammy cap dump and he's worth the late 1st

He has had only 3 good games (one of those games only facing 17 shots) out of 4 coming back from injury with the first game posting a .870%. WAY WAY to small of a sample size against the season. For the season in 19 games he has a .878%. He currently is ranked 82nd in the league based on save % and 69th in goals against average. He's been awful and 3 good games isn't enough to change that and only suggests those are an outlier. String together 7 to 10 good games and than there's a narrative behind what you are saying.

I mean a lot of what you said isn't true, Samsonov was not injured, he was in the minors doing a conditioning stint. His game with the .870% was actually a very well played game by him but our defense was very bad all game, I agree he hasnt been good over the whole season but hes starting to get something going and either way we wouldnt pay a 1st for a one year contract to be dumped especially since this season appears to be going nowhere for us anyways

To be clear, it's not a 1st to dump Sammy. It's a 1st to acquire Murphy AND dump Sammy to create the cap space.
