C'mon Nucks, sign the legend already!!! Version 2.0!!

Created by: alwaysnextyear
Team: 2017-18 Vancouver Canucks
Initial Creation Date: Jul. 11, 2017
Published: Jul. 11, 2017
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
An even better idea for signing Jags! He's already said he doesn't want a heavy travel schedule, and that he'd like to play until he's 50 years old. Well have the Canucks got an offer for you sir!

Contract details:
- 5 years, $1 mill base salary per year with bonus amounts for point production
- option to only play home games and personally select the road trips he might want to go on (allowing for the team to break in younger players on the road)
- operate as a home "player/coach" over the term of the contract (ie. helping out the PP, mentoring the young kids, etc) and managing the number of games played as he gets older

Jags is a living legend, freak of nature and would still be an excellent example for the kids to follow on the ice and in the weight room. His $1 mill cap hit wouldn't hurt the team moving forward unless he hits his points bonus (at which point, who cares).

Well if he doesn't want a big travel scheduled, playing on the west coast probably is not the best place for him. Plus having him sit for certain games etc, does nothing but splinter a team.

I like it. Big fan of getting a legend like that to come and be a mentor to the young guys. I think for the cap the total bonuses achievable counts but i may be wrong. You're probably right, we would need some special offer to get him up here.

The problem i think is then that there are not enough spots for guys like Goldy, Molino, Dahlen, and Virtanen especially with the Gange signing. If there was someway to trade Erikson that would be helpful.

I would rather sign Steve Yzerman to a 5 year deal.
He can be GM - coach - player, whatever he wants.

Vancouver with its starting-from-the-bottom team is not what Jagr is looking for. Besides the west coast demands of travel/injuries mean all 23 roster spots are important to the team even if Jagr is only playing half the games. If Jagr was interested in this proposal, I think it would work better for him in Vegas.

Figures, Canucks fans don't understand hockey. Will never happen so why waste the keystrokes.....unless you're practicing for a typing test???

Riiggght. Cuz we should only ever create rosters that are 100% realistic and never try creative or unlikely things. If that's your prerogative I think you'll be disagreeing with about 90% of the posts on this website Paul. Sorry to disappoint your fragile grasp on reality.
