Mantha did not have a great relationship with Lavi. He had to hire a mental coach after being scratched.

Mantha has been great this year but was maybe the player that had the most problems with Laviolette lol

Any Washington player has great animosity to Lavi, particularly these two. Mantha can't stand him, as he often either scratched him or ripped him via the media. Dowd often stuck up for his teammates; so, there's no love there.

Even the last Ranger win against them, Lavi wouldn't mention their names and couldn't be promoted to.

Hahaha, ok that's a shame. Not too bummed about Mantha. He's been having a great year, but historically he tends to disappear for long stretches so he would have been a gamble anyway.

But after the recent trades, Nic Dowd is one of the few guys left on the shortlist of available centers. So it does sting a bit if he's not an option.
