Tuch would be a great top six player for any team, I think, but he isn't a missing piece for a Detroit Cup run. The Wings need to keep a guy like Danielson and let the future run its course with their top prospects.

Buffalo isn't trading Tuch.
Detroit is not trading Danielson.

Both very fair statements. Just think If the mindset is to let things run their course why do we have bergren and Edvinson in the AHL when they've shown nhl caliber play and we do have holes in our roster. Let the talent that deserves to play, play or make a trade to round out the top 6 or a rhd for the second line petty and holl and maata can fight for 3rd spot

Yzerman is obviously a big fan of letting his prospects cook in the AHL before calling them up full time. It doesn't feel like it's Darryl Sutter level, but if it gets there that can't be good lol.

But, another reason would be that Grand Rapids is on a good streak right now, and he may want those prospects to chase the AHL playoffs for now while the veterans under contract try for it on the big club. 2nd in their division, not the greatest record, but the Griffins could potentially go on a run that Yzerman just doesn't think the Wings can, and wants them to try and win it all? I have no idea, but sometimes that's the reason.
