A 1st and a 2nd gets you close (Calgary may want a little more) but the years are where I think Calgary says no. That 1st isn't for another 3 years.

... Then again, a Tampa 1st in three years is compelling considering they're not getting any younger,

The 1st in 2026 is interesting because it's also Joe Iginla's draft year. Because the 1st is 3 years away, Tampa has to grow in one of their two top prospects. Ethan Gauthier has all the tools to be an NHLer, add in that his dad, Denis played for the Flames most of his career and played with a Conroy, it seems like a solid fit. Maybe another late round pick gets it done for the retained salary.

The other problem I can see is, how does TBL make it work beyond this season, if they intend to keep Stamkos.

Nice trade for the present and future. Bringing Fleury back to the prairies could boost his play.
