Its you overvalue your assets. Who can seriosly take this offer, when your best argument "both dudes can hockey".

One thing I have learned after using this site for a few years: there are few fan bases on this site that over value their own players like the blues fans do. So there is next to no point in ever making a blues trade.
This trade is pretty far off not going to lie. But you could probably offer crosby half retained and a 1st and they would say it was a bad trade cuz crosby is "too old".

Fairly similar to the offer Eichel got and Eichel is better than Kyrou

Well tbf crosby is pretty old
He’s got 4 years left max, Kyrou is signed for 7. Ik you’re exaggerating but no sane GM would make that trade when in the blues position right now. If they were one of the top teams in the league then maybe

The worst two on here are DET and CAR. DET fans are insufferable EVERYWHERE online that I have ever interacted with them. ESPN years ago. SB Nation on Winging it in Motown. Etc. Never found a site where DET fans were not horribly conceited.

Except ownership would likely step in because adding Crosby alone would boost their profit margin by millions in the short term even if he makes little sense in their future.

LOL I was waiting for this comment!
I understand fanbases love their players but, do you really think Kyrou is worth the same deal? Honestly
Not a center and a worse PPG, you get futures and something to tide you over. If trades only happened for pure prospects and futures trades would only happen with the likes of Anaheim and Buffalo who have mega capspace you need to take something in return in these situations and again, you can't deny both dudes can hockey

Nobody is dumb enough to think that Kyrou is the same caliber player Eichel was. But there are alot of circumstance you are also overlooking. There was a real possibility at the time of the trade after Eichel's neck surgery that he wouldn't be able to play hockey anymore. And that's a massive commitment money wise for a guy that may have to retire.

I'm not sure where the notion of something to tide you over comes from. Rakell is in a similar situation to a guy like Saad, Schenn, Faulk and Krug. Are they NHL level players? Sure. But you don't know what the fit is and you also have a long term commitment tied to acquiring the player. Now factor in he's a far from consistent player and signed to be at minimum a 2nd liner and there's an issue of adding another undesireable contract. Smith also isn't a very desirable player to have in the situation we're in. I'm not even sure how you can somehow compare Rakell and Smith currently to Tuch and Krebs at the time of the Eichel trade.

Because it doesn't make sense. Not everything is value in a vacuum. Value wise yes it's ignorant to say no to something like that. But in the real world you aren't trading assets to trade for a guy to flip. When has that ever happened?

Yea but the point is moot cause Pitt would riot if Crosby is traded

Not at all IF Crosby requested a trade. Granted, I surely don't think he would go to STL as they aren't going to be in a measurably better place than PIT. But if he wanted to play for example with friends like Marchand or MacKinnon on true contenders, I am certain 90+% of PIT fans and the org. would fully support that. Crosby more than deserves to play on a contender if he wants. I think the entire fan base would support that opinion on any of the core four and even Guentzel. Can't fault players for wanting to compete. That's a respectable desire.

"Fairly similar" in the sense that a kickball and a tomato are fairly similar. Yeah, they're both red and round and you could throw them at people if you wanted to, but their primary use is very different.

A Kyrou deal has to start with Yegar/Pickering + a first, that's the minimum.

I agree DET fans take the cake. They've had some really good teams so I understand a being a proud fanbase but also seem to forget that they didn't have to deal with a salary cap on every cup win except for one. There were many years they basically just bought the cup lol. MTL fans are pretty bad too so I always just chocked it up to being an "original six" thing.
