Not totally sure about that. In this scenario, Caps would get a young RHD as the Jensen replacement as well as cap space for next season when Brodie's contract expires. Leafs get a RHD with two more years left on his deal for a team that's fairly cap strapped.

The trade gives the Caps more flexibility towards its rebuild/retool. Maybe a splash FA signing? Who knows.
