Both teams would benefit from the trade. Apparently, Tkachuk is unhappy, and MTL could use a power forward with character. But let's be real, Ottawa's not just gonna hand it over, especially not to Montreal. So I figured I'd add the first pick (which will probs be 5th overall) to sweeten the deal. You gotta give to get, right? Caufiled is one year younger and has an 8-year contract at $7.8 M; Tkachuk only has four years left and will probably not resign in Ottawa. So it's a risky move, but MTL has a better chance to win with Tkachuk than Caufiled, who is unidimensional and only scores goals.
